Dr. Bruce Pedersen

Veterinarian

Growing up in Nebraska with a veterinarian father, Bruce complements his veterinary background with a proven and successful track record in technology and real estate.

Dr. Pedersen received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1992 and has special interest in bovine reproduction and medicine. An innovator in veterinary software (the first with his vet school partner to develop software that incorporated pet pictures on invoices), Bruce pursued his vision by pairing his diverse experience and passion for Veterinary medicine to design and build the “Mayo Clinic of Veterinary Medicine”.

 

Dr. Mark Foster

Veterinarian

Meet Dr. Mark Foster, our Associate Veterinarian, a proud alumnus of Kansas State University with a degree earned in 2016.
…While well-versed in small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Foster thoroughly enjoys large animal care, particularly during pivotal moments such as preg-checking and calving season. His surgical skills shine, with a focus on performing various orthopedic surgeries. Known for his patience, kindness, and technical prowess, Dr. Foster has proven to be an invaluable asset to our veterinary team. His dedication to the well-being of animals and commitment to excellence make him a trusted professional among both colleagues and clients. Beyond the veterinary clinic, Dr. Foster enjoys spending quality time outdoors. Whether he’s hunting, fishing, or simply relaxing, you’ll find him in the company of his wife, Brandi, their two children, and their loyal dog, Zipper. Dr. Foster’s passion for veterinary care and love for the outdoors contribute to his well-rounded and compassionate approach to both his profession and personal life.

Hailing from the picturesque landscapes of Eastern Oregon, Cindy’s roots in rural life have instilled in her a deep appreciation for the well-being of animals. With a keen understanding of the unique challenges and needs of both pets and their owners in the Watford City community, Cindy plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary practice. Her compassionate approach and efficient management contribute to a welcoming and organized environment where pets receive top-notch care. Cindy Mecham’s commitment to the health and happiness of animals reflects not only her professional expertise but also her genuine love for the furry companions that enrich our lives. When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her family.

Heather’s professional journey has been a tapestry of diverse roles, showcasing her versatility and adaptability across various industries.

Heather’s academic foundation includes a Marketing Bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, complemented by a minor in Fine Arts. This dual expertise allows her to seamlessly blend both creative and analytical thinking, making her an asset in the design and functionality of veterinary hospitals. With a background as a licensed stockbroker, veterinary practice manager, co-author, sign language interpreter, and serial entrepreneur, Heather’s experiences have uniquely shaped her skill set. Recently, she has emerged as a passionate advocate for overseas orphans and is reinventing herself as an artist.

Having worked alongside Dr. Bruce for over 30 years, Heather is well-versed in the intricacies of running veterinary hospitals. She not only navigates the challenges with finesse but also finds joy in the collaborative journey with her husband. She adores her Toy Mini-Aussies, Pocket, Sprout and Chutney.

 

Diana Johnson

Certified Veterinary Technician 

Diana graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from NDSU in 1993. 

Licensed Veterinary Technician with nearly 31 years of experience, is considered a veteran in the field. Currently serving as the Secretary on the North Dakota Veterinary Technician Board, Diana has held various leadership positions, including President and Past President.

She recently joined a committee to collaborate with the North Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners in enhancing the Practice Act. Diana is passionate about making the Veterinary Technician profession desirable and enjoys mentoring new technicians.

Married for almost 30 years, Diana values her supportive husband and the freedom to travel and focus on personal interests now that their children are independent. In her spare time, she engages in reading, crafting, gardening, and outdoor activities. With a diverse set of skills, Diana describes herself as a “jack of all trades and master of none.” Her deepest passion lies in riding and training horses. Employed at Watford City Veterinary Center for nearly 12 years, Diana continues to contribute her expertise to the field she loves.

Kerrigan Parker

Technician

Kerrigan, a dynamic member of the WCVC team, commenced her journey in February 2019 as a receptionist before transitioning to a veterinary assistant in 2020…

 

…Later that same year, she elevated her role to become a technician, showcasing her dedication and versatility within the veterinary field.

Originally hailing from South Louisiana, Kerrigan’s roots are grounded in a rich history of involvement in 4-H, the Junior Beef Ambassador Program, and the thrill of barrel racing. Beyond her professional life, her diverse hobbies include crocheting, horseback riding, showcasing her culinary skills with amazing Louisiana cuisine, and, of course, wholeheartedly caring for animals.

Kerrigan’s ambitions extend beyond her current role, as her life goal is to further her education in veterinary medicine and attain licensure as a technician. In Watford, she has created a loving home with her husband Christian, son Dallas, a sassy Yorkie named Olive, and a spunky Jack Russell named Patches. Kerrigan’s journey at WCVC is a testament to her passion for veterinary care and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of animals.

Shelby Blotske

Technician, Flow Master, Back Office Manager

Shelby Blotske has spent the majority of her life in North Dakota, where her passion for animals has been a constant source of joy and fulfillment…

Since childhood, family members foresaw her future working with animals, given her deep affection for furry companions from a very young age.

While it’s challenging to pinpoint a single favorite aspect of her job, Shelby finds immense satisfaction in being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Her commitment to advocating for animals reflects her genuine love and concern for their well-being.

In addition to her meaningful work, Shelby shares her life with three beloved fur babies: two dogs named Kimber and Milo, and a cat named Tikka. They are not just pets; they are her pride and joy. In their free time, Shelby, along with her husband and their furry companions, enjoys moments of tranquility by the lake—a place where their shared happiness truly blossoms.

Carrie Otto

Technician 

I’m a 2019 high school graduate from Minot, ND, with a deep passion for animals and the outdoors

I’m currently studying Equine Studies at Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College in New Town, ND, and working toward my Veterinary Technician degree through Penn Foster’s online program. My goal is to combine my love for horses with a career in animal care.

When I’m not studying, I love spending time at my family ranch in White Shield, ND, where I can relax, ride horses, and enjoy the peace of country life. I have two dogs, Beau and Ace, who are my constant companions, and I cherish quiet moments at home with them. Whether it’s caring for animals, riding through the ranch, or just enjoying the fresh air, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by nature and the creatures I love.

her devoted team. Born and raised in Watford, Kira’s love for animals has been a lifelong affair. Among her cherished companions are two old ladies—a cat named Icis and a Chihuahua named Cleo. Adding a unique flair to her family is the latest addition, a snake named Gin. In her role, Kira takes pleasure in engaging with returning clients, forming connections, and witnessing the delightful camaraderie that develops among first-time boarders and their furry friends. Beyond her responsibilities, she finds solace and enjoyment in her free time, immersing herself in the worlds of literature, writing, and indulging in YouTube videos that delve into the fascinating realm of reptiles. Mei brings a unique blend of passion, experience, and a deep love for animals, especially our canine companions. Mei’s passion for animals, particularly dogs, is the driving force behind her role as a Boarding Hospitality Specialist. Her genuine love for these four-legged friends extends beyond the workplace, as she continuously seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge and discover new aspects of canine care. Mei’s dedication to the well-being of dogs goes beyond her daily responsibilities. She has generously opened her home to foster dogs during their owners’ deployments in the Navy, providing a loving and nurturing environment during challenging times. Mei’s commitment to animal welfare extends to her volunteer work at CAPS (Churchill Country Animal Protection Society) in Nevada, where she dedicated her time and skills for multiple years while stationed near a military base.

What truly sets Mei apart is her unwavering commitment to treating our boarding guests as if they were her own furry family members. Outside of work, Desiree cherishes her two rescued dogs, Cowboy and Shiloh. Meet Dominique, a dedicated animal enthusiast and skilled pet groomer with roots in the picturesque state of Minnesota.

…Dominique’s love for animals blossomed at the age of 5 when she first experienced the joy of riding a pony at her birthday party. At her home, she manages a lively zoo featuring her beloved companions: Ozzy, the ever-faithful dog, and two sleek black cats named Binx and Salem. Holding a certificate in Pet Grooming from Paragon Grooming School, Dominique is eager to explore more specialized styles, particularly in Asian Fusion grooming techniques. Beyond her grooming expertise, she indulges in the guilty pleasure of reality TV, with a special fondness for shows like the 90 Day Fiance franchise and Below Deck franchise. You’ll often find Dominique comfortably nestled on her couch, catching up on the latest drama and escapades on the small screen. With a heart full of love for animals and a penchant for reality TV, Dominique brings a unique blend of passion and entertainment to both her professional and personal pursuits.

Lexi Stainbrook

Receptionist

She enjoys being a receptionist for The Watford City Vet center, she’s been in the receptionist industry for 12 years, she enjoys answering the Phone and helping clients and their pets feel welcomed and comfortable in the clinic.

Alexus Stainbrook was born and raised in Polson Montana, she moved to Watford City in 2022 with her fiance Michael for job opportunities. 

She is currently a full time student at Salish & Kootenai College, studying Wildlife and Fisheries with a Minor in Wildlife Biology. When she’s not being a student or a receptionist she enjoys quality time sitting in the passenger seat of her fiance’s Semi truck, traveling around the United States. She also enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs Clay and Woody whether it be at the lake throwing a stick for her furbabies or taking long hikes in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. 

Samantha Sturgeon

Sam is an avid animal lover and is excited to see all the critters that come to WCVC. Whether she is answering your calls or greeting you at reception, you will be met with a positive helpful approach. 

Sam recently graduated from California State University Stanislaus in 2024. Following graduation, she and her fiance, Wyatt, moved to Watford City. When she is not working she loves to spend time exploring the outdoors with Wyatt. She is the best fishing partner a guy could ask for! Sam has been a lifelong book lover. Her favorite kind of days start with an iced coffee, a long run, followed by hours and hours of reading.

I thrive on creating a welcoming atmosphere and am always eager to help with any questions or concerns! What I love most about being a veterinary receptionist is the opportunity to connect with clients and their pets. Each day brings new challenges and new stories, and I find joy in being part of a team that helps animals lead healthy and happy lives. Whether it’s celebrating a new addition or supporting a family through a pet’s illness, I cherish every moment. When I’m not greeting our amazing clients at the clinic, you can find me spending quality time with my playful boxer, Luna Belle. Their boundless energy and goofy antics never fail to bring a smile to my face! I adore all pets, but there’s something about those lovable boxer smiles that makes my heart skip a beat!
